From Tauber Legal to CDeeds: Why I Love Real Estate & Deeds

By Kaitlyn P. Tauber, Esq., Liberty Legacy Law Group

Some people fall into their careers. I built mine.

Not because it was easy. Not because I had a detailed five-year plan. But because something deep inside me has always been drawn to ownership – not just of land or property, but of opportunity, of legacy, of creating something tangible from the ground up.

For as long as I can remember, business and real estate has been part of my DNA. I come from a family where small business was a way of life – where my grandfather opened Tauber’s Service Station in Linthicum, Maryland, and my father later transformed it into a local institution: Tauber’s Towing. Owning something, building something, passing it down – that was our language of love and security.

So when I launched Tauber Legal, and later CDeeds, it wasn’t just business. It was personal.

The Roots of Ownership

My journey into real estate wasn’t born from textbooks or theory—it started with curiosity and hustle. Early on, I began helping clients navigate the complexities of short sales and deeds in lieu of foreclosure, gaining a front-row seat to the emotional and financial weight these situations carry. That experience led me into the mortgage industry, where I learned the ins and outs of risk, residential lending, and the strict regulatory landscape lenders must navigate to help people finance their homes

From there, I transitioned into working at a title company, where I absorbed the legal mechanics of real estate—property law, closings, and the labyrinth of documentation most people never see. It was meticulous work—reviewing legal descriptions, confirming boundaries, and coordinating with agents and lenders. But I loved it.

There’s something deeply satisfying about tracing the story of a property through its deeds – seeing who owned it, how it changed hands, what was recorded and when. Each deed is a chapter in someone’s life, a legal document that holds enormous emotional weight.

Eventually, that love for the behind-the-scenes of real estate turned into something bigger. I began investing—acquiring rental properties, managing tenants, and learning the art (and challenges) of property ownership. I even purchased a mobile home community and worked to transform it into a stable, supportive place for its residents. Every investment taught me more about responsibility, leverage, negotiation, and compassion.

Real estate is never just numbers. It’s people. It’s homes. It’s community.

Tauber Legal: My First Step Into Law + Real Estate

When I started Tauber Legal, it was a small firm with a simple mission: help people create strong foundations. We formed LLCs. We drafted Wills. We focused on the essentials – protection, structure, and clarity.

So many of my clients were small business owners like me. Builders. Hustlers. Dreamers. They were launching side gigs or purchasing their first rental property. Many were nervous, unsure what they needed. Some didn’t even know what an LLC was.

That’s where I came in – not just as an attorney, but as someone who had been there. I didn’t just explain operating agreements – I explained what it’s like to wake up at 2 a.m. thinking about repairs and cash flow. I didn’t just form companies – I formed relationships built on shared understanding.

Over time, I saw a pattern. One area consistently created confusion, delay, and fear: deeds.

Why Deeds Matter (More Than Most People Realize)

Most people don’t think about deeds until something goes wrong. A death. A refinance. A dispute. And suddenly, the thing that was supposed to be simple – “just transfer the property” – becomes a mess.

Incorrect vesting. Unrecorded deeds. Joint ownership conflicts. Missing legal descriptions. I’ve seen it all.

Deeds are the skeleton of real estate. They tell you who owns what, how they own it, and what happens next. But unlike other legal work, deeds fall into a strange gap – too important to ignore, yet often overlooked or misunderstood by both consumers and professionals.

That’s why I created CDeeds – to fill that gap.

CDeeds: Where Law, Simplicity, and Real Estate Meet

CDeeds was born from a simple idea: make deed preparation accessible, fast, and accurate.

I wanted to create a platform where people could request a deed with confidence – whether they were transferring property to a trust, adding a spouse to title, removing someone after a divorce, or organizing their real estate for tax and liability protection.

No courthouse confusion. No outdated templates. No guesswork.

Through CDeeds, we offer custom-prepared deeds backed by real attorneys who understand the nuances of state law, property law, and estate planning. It’s not DIY – and that’s the point. Real estate deserves real guidance.

What sets CDeeds apart is more than just the tech. It’s the heart behind it.

Every deed we prepare is more than a document – it’s a step toward control, stability, and peace of mind. I’ve helped families avoid probate. I’ve helped investors clean up title issues that held up sales. I’ve helped people protect homes that carry generations of history.

Why I Care So Much

Maybe it’s because I’ve lived this.

I’ve signed closing papers with anxious hands, not knowing what the future would hold. I’ve evicted tenants I cared about when they stopped paying rent. I’ve been on the wrong side of a deal and learned the hard way what it means to be taken advantage of. I’ve navigated liens, zoning issues, and late-night emergencies that made me question whether owning property was even worth it.

And yet – I’ve also felt the deep sense of relief that comes when the paperwork finally lines up. I’ve heard the quiet exhale on the other end of the phone when someone realizes, Yes, the deed is correct now. I’ve seen how one recorded document can lift the weight of uncertainty and bring a sense of order and peace.

Real estate is emotional.

It represents dreams, roots, identity. And that’s why I’ve built my career around it – not just buying, selling, and transferring it, but empowering others to understand it. Because clarity is powerful. Certainty is calming. And sometimes, peace of mind is the most valuable thing you can pass on.

What I’ve Learned Along the Way

My journey from Tauber Legal to CDeeds taught me a few powerful truths – lessons I now carry into every client interaction, every business decision, every signature:

  1. Clear ownership is more powerful than the nicest home

You can remodel a house a hundred times – but if the title is flawed, none of it matters. Clarity on ownership gives people confidence and control. It’s invisible, but essential.

  1. Most people aren’t looking for real estate – they’re looking for freedom

Freedom to build passive income that allows them to leave a job. Freedom to pass something on. Freedom to build without fear. My job is to help them get there faster, cleaner, smarter.

  1. Deeds are love letters in legal form

When a parent transfers a home to a child… when a spouse puts both names on title… when someone deeds property into a trust – it’s not just legal. It’s emotional. It’s a gesture of care, responsibility, and sometimes forgiveness.

  1. Small wins create huge loyalty

Returning a call quickly. Fixing a typo before the client catches it. Explaining a term without making someone feel small or uninformed. These “little” things build trust that lasts for years.

  1. The more I teach, the more people succeed

Whether it’s clients or employees, I believe in education. Not just doing the work, but explaining why it matters. Knowledge creates power – and nothing feels better than watching someone realize they’ve got it under control.
